If you weren’t looking for it you would never notice this hole-in-the-wall doughnut shop located in a strip mall in Pembroke Pines. Dubbed as Pembroke Pines’ “hidden gem” Mojo Donuts opened in 2013.
It was named South Florida’s best doughnut shop in 2013 by CBS Local, and with good reason.
The doughnuts served at Mojos are always super fresh; the shop is open from 6:00 a.m. until they run out, so you know you’re never getting day-old sweets.
The secret to Mojo Donuts’ success is the recipe for their dough. The doughnuts come out fluffy and are never greasy. Their doughnuts are so light and airy that they bounce back up when bitten into.
Aside from the quality, the flavors are outrageous. Everything from gourmet doughnuts such as banana cream pie and deco drive (a doughnut filled with banana cream and rolled in chocolate and then frosted flakes and topped with fresh fruit and a drizzle of chocolate) to more fun flavors like the potato-chip-covered 420 and the maple bacon log.
There is a flavor to please every palate and the coffee is not half bad either
For those who have not heard of kronuts and want to try the doughnut-croissant craze, Mojos serves cinnamon sugar and glazed kronuts on the weekends.
“I randomly made the drive from Coconut Grove to Pembroke Pines with my friend for these doughnuts and they were awesome. The peanut butter chocolate doughnut was my favorite but all the flavors were great. We took a dozen and still didn’t even try half the flavors. Definitely have to go back,” senior Kathryn Hickey said of the experience.
